I decided to open my own family childcare home after the birth of my youngest daughter. I have always loved children and had thought about doing it in the past but have always ruled out the idea thinking that it would not work. While looking for childcare for my newborn at the time, I was able to see in-home child care first hand and not only that it actually could work, but that's the type of care I prefer for my child over a child care center.
After enrolling my daughter at a family childcare home I began to research how I could start my own family childcare. I've always wanted to run my own business, I've always wanted to work with children, and I was looking for a way that I could stay home with my own children and be closer with my family; so this for me was the best decision! That was over 3 years ago! After purchasing our home 2 years ago, I've spent months preparing, researching, planning, and perfecting my home to welcome in children into my program. I've put a lot of time and effort into structuring the schedule, putting together activities, and making our home a welcoming learning environment where children can be themselves, laugh, learn, grow, and foster their curiosity. When putting a child into any child care program, parent's put their trust into the people who are caring for their children. I know this first hand being a mother myself who had to put her children into child care. So when it comes to my business I want to make sure that it is a place that I would want my own children to go; a place where every child is greeted with a warm smile and is welcomed in. |
