I believe that young children should be able to play without strict rules and boundaries; they should be able to explore their surroundings and learn in a lecture free environment. That being said, I still believe that there should be some structure, with planned activities. Activities will be planned around set meal, snack and quiet times and are flexible based on the children’s moods and needs. Activities may include: arts/crafts, singing/dancing, reading/writing/drawing, etc. See Daily Schedule for more information.
Each week I will plan to incorporate an age appropriate learning curriculum/activity into our daily routines. I may incorporate activities from the following curriculums:
I will continue to research and explore various curriculum's and activities that I may also incorporate into our schedule along with input from the children.
During the week we will also read lots of books and do other hands on activities that incorporate life skills.
Activities will incorporate play that focuses on children's core developmental needs and facilitates their emotional, cognitive, communicative, perceptual-motor, physical and social development.
In addition to academics, I aim to share the love of Jesus with the children by incorporating bible stories, bible verses, Christian music, and small prayers at meal time.
Matthew 19:14 (NIV)
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
